El proyecto Smartbike es un sistema de gestión integral de préstamo de bicicletas en libre servicio que permite a las ciudades ofrecer a sus habitantes un transporte público respetuoso con el medio ambiente y complementario a la red de transportes de las ciudades. Una larga lista de ciudades en el mundo ya ha comprobado la eficacia de la alternativa, siendo Barcelona la pionera en España, seguida de Zaragoza recientemente.

El congreso, organizado por el Ayuntamiento de Madrid en colaboración con la Fundación Movilidad, celebrado en Madrid, se ha centrado en buscar soluciones inteligentes, basadas en la difusión de buenas prácticas y de los resultados de I+D, a nivel internacional entre otros temas. Además de los problemas asociados al aumento de la movilidad urbana que exigen tomar medidas para convertir al ciudadano en el principal protagonista de la movilidad en la ciudad. Para lo cual es necesario fomentar la utilización del transporte público, acometer actuaciones que mejoren la circulación de vehículos en la ciudad, favorecer otros medios de transporte alternativos, conseguir una distribución de mercancías ágil y una carga y descarga ordenada, etc., en definitiva, conseguir una ciudad accesible para todos, menos contaminante y más respetuosa con el medio ambiente.

Festibike 2008 ha superado todas las expectativas. Durante esta edición se han batido los récords de participación, expositores, exhibiciones y actividades. Además, los máximos exponentes del mundo de la bicicleta han estado presentes; Chema Martínez, Joan Llaneras y Dani Comas han sido algunos de los nombres propios de esta edición.

Las mejores marcas del sector, más de 30 actividades y muchas caras conocidas han hecho de esta edición de Festibike, un espectáculo único para todos los públicos. Cerca de 70.000 personas se han acercado al Recinto Ferial de Las Rozas para conocer las últimas novedades del sector de la bicicleta, participar en las actividades propuestas y sorprenderse con los riders más potentes de cada especialidad.

En el día de hoy, las actividades participativas han sido el punto fuerte. En primer lugar, la Marcha Maratón de “El Corte Inglés”, en la que más de 1.500 ciclistas no se han amedrentado por la lluvia y se han lanzado a recorrer los 75 kilómetros de distancia.
Tras ella, el Criterium XC MTB, que ha vuelto a Festibike con una prueba explosiva y rapidísima y que ha ofrecido a los asistentes un espectáculo único.

Durante este fin de semana, la empresa líder en la fabricación de bicicletas del mundo, GIANT, presentará todas las novedades en bicicletas y cuadros para 2009, tanto en carretera como en Mountain Bike.

La gama de bicicletas GIANT 2009 está completamente renovada. En carretera destaca la nueva TCR Advanced 1 SL Team, la misma con la que está compitiendo esta temporada el equipo Columbia y con la que correrán los ciclistas del Rabobank en 2009 en las mejores carreras del mundo.

Respecto a la nueva gama de Mountain Bike, sobresalen la Anthem Advanced y la Anthem X, y por supuesto la XtC Advanced SL 0.

GIANT expondrá estas y otras novedades en el Stand nº 36 del recinto ferial donde se ubica el FESTIBIKE, donde todos los aficionados podrán observar y apreciar el buen acabado y la altísima calidad que siempre ofrecen los productos GIANT.

La Presidenta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre, acompañada por el Consejero de Deportes, Alberto López Viejo, recibió al ciclista madrileño Alberto Contador, quien se alzó en Madrid con el triunfo en la Vuelta a España 2008

Tras la recepción en la Comunidad de Madrid, Alberto Contador, se dirigió a Pinto, donde fue recibido por su ciudad, aquí, el campeón de la Triple Corona fue escoltado por las asociaciones ciclistas de Pinto desde la entrada del municipio (cuartel de la Guardia Civil) para acompañarle en su recorrido por las calles de la ciudad hasta llegar a a la plaza del consistorio, donde todos los pinteños pudieron vitorearle en su salida al balcón del ayuntamiento.

Mini-Cooper nos vuelve a sorprender de nuevo con este original diseño que ha estado paseando por Pekín durante las olimpiadas, además de colaborar con el grave problema que sufre la ciudad de contaminación.

Mini-Rickshaw es un vehículo que no contamina siendo la parte delantera de forma de una bicicleta en la que se mueve por el pedaleo del conductor y la parte de atrás dispone de un chasis de un Mini-Cooper para que los viajeros viajen cómodamente.

El vehículo decorado con motivos chinos y en su interior con amuletos ha recorrido todas las calles de Pekín.

Esperemos que esta iniciativa no sea la última y se pueda reducir la contaminación en la ciudad

Giant tiene el placer de anunciar que, a partir del 2009, colaborará con el Equipo Ciclista Rabobank. En tanto que spónsor oficial de bicicletas para el Rabobank, Giant suministrará bicicletas al equipo, que cuenta con corredores como Oscar Freire, tres veces Campeón del Mundo, Denis Menchov, dos veces ganador de la Vuelta a España y el actual Campeón Mundial de Ciclocross, Lars Boom.

El contrato de dos años de Giant con el Rabobank cubre tres equipos distintos – un equipo de carretera de élite de nivel mundial, un equipo sub-23 en evolución, y un equipo profesional de ciclocross.

La gran fiesta de la bicicleta sigue creciendo y este año se ha trasladado al recinto ferial de Las Rozas con 32.000 m2

Esta edición cuenta con más de 30 actividades en las que se puede participar de forma activa
El fin de semana del 19, 20 y 21 de septiembre la gran fiesta de la bicicleta llega a Las Rozas con Festibike 2008. Esta localización hace posible que se lleven a cabo las más de 30 actividades organizadas, por espacio y proximidad a la sierra.

La distribución del espacio de exposición ha mejorado gracias a su nueva ubicación en Las Rozas. Las marcas más destacadas del sector no se quieren perder esta renovada edición y el 80% de los más de 13.000 m2 de exposición ya están reservados. Los expositores permitirán probar los modelos que saldrán al mercado en 2009 en los distintos circuitos demo; de bicicletas Mountain Bike, urbanas, eléctricas e infantiles.

Las Rozas ha sido el municipio escogido para el desarrollo de Festibike 2008 por su buena accesibilidad, la proximidad a Madrid, sus infraestructuras, (A-6, M-50 y M-505), o los servicios de transporte público (tren de cercanías y dos líneas de autobuses).
